SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 375
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize San Antonio Pets Alive! on the occasion of its first
  anniversary; and
         WHEREAS, This dedicated no-kill organization was founded
  in January of 2012 and incorporated with nonprofit status in
  April of 2012; in one short year, the group has helped save the
  lives of more than 5,900 animals and has exponentially increased
  awareness among citizens that there are alternatives to pet
  surrender, which often results in euthanasia; and
         WHEREAS, Working in partnership with the City of San
  Antonio, this laudable group functions on a grassroots level to
  save dogs and cats through adoption, foster care, urgent medical
  care, bottle-feeding programs, and community education; and
         WHEREAS, San Antonio Pets Alive! has achieved remarkable
  results; after its inception, the city shelter's save rate jumped
  from 30 percent in October of 2011 to 72 percent the following
  October; the group's ultimate mission is to achieve and sustain a
  90 percent save rate and to make San Antonio the largest no-kill
  city in the country; and
         WHEREAS, This outstanding nonprofit organization has
  successfully motivated and coordinated the efforts of community
  members, businesses, and volunteers to save the lives of
  thousands of pets and find them safe and loving homes; it is
  indeed worthy of praise and recognition for its humane efforts;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, hereby commend San Antonio Pets Alive! on the
  occasion of its first anniversary and extend to its staff and
  volunteers sincere best wishes for further success in all their
  future endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  this exceptional organization as an expression of esteem from the
  Texas Senate.
