SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 381
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to join
  the citizens of Hewitt and Texans across the state in celebrating
  March 5, 2013, as Hewitt Day at the State Capitol; and
 
         WHEREAS, The City of Hewitt can trace its roots to a
  community established in 1882 as a station along the Missouri,
  Kansas, and Texas Railroad; the township surrounding the station
  was later purchased by businessman John A. Warren, who named it
  after railroad executive George A. Hewitt; and
 
         WHEREAS, Situated on the rich Blackland Prairie, Hewitt
  for many years served as the hub of a thriving farming community
  that produced corn, cattle, and cotton, which was shipped to
  market by wagon or rail; and
 
         WHEREAS, Hewitt was incorporated in 1960 and soon became one
  of the fastest-growing towns in the area; known for its abundance
  of economic opportunity, its outstanding schools, and its real
  sense of community, it was named by Money magazine in 2007 as one of
  the top 100 places to live in the United States; and
 
         WHEREAS, Today, Hewitt continues to grow and thrive as an
  exceptional place in which to live, work, and raise a family; its
  people can take great pride in its history and progress as they
  celebrate its bright future; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, hereby commend the citizens of Hewitt on their many
  contributions to the legacy of McLennan County and our state and
  extend to them best wishes for a memorable Hewitt Day at the State
  Capitol; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
