SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 384
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Whitson Etheridge
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Conroe in mourning the loss of Whitson Etheridge, who
  died December 26, 2012, at the age of 95; and
         WHEREAS, Whitson Etheridge was born November 1, 1917; he
  received a journalism degree from The University of Texas and
  worked for a time as a writer and photographer with the San
  Antonio Light; he went on to earn a degree from the South Texas
  School of Law in 1952 and enter into the practice of law; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Etheridge practiced law for 60 years and was
  known for often waiving his fees for those in need; he was a past
  president of the Montgomery County Bar Association; and
         WHEREAS, He was active in numerous community
  organizations, notably as a member of the Ancient Free and
  Accepted Masons and the Lions Club, and he was the author of Dad,
  What was it like in Conroe, a book detailing the history of Conroe
  and Montgomery County; a devout Christian who practiced his faith
  in his daily life, he was a longtime member of First Baptist
  Church and served on the State Baptist Executive Board; and
         WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and
  grandfather, and his wisdom, his generous spirit, and his
  enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will not be
  forgotten by those who were privileged to share in his life; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Whitson Etheridge; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Whitson Etheridge.
