SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 384

Whitson Etheridge |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
|
|
citizens of Conroe in mourning the loss of Whitson Etheridge, who |
|
|
died December 26, 2012, at the age of 95; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Whitson Etheridge was born November 1, 1917; he |
|
|
received a journalism degree from The University of Texas and |
|
|
worked for a time as a writer and photographer with the San |
|
|
Antonio Light; he went on to earn a degree from the South Texas |
|
|
School of Law in 1952 and enter into the practice of law; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Etheridge practiced law for 60 years and was |
|
|
known for often waiving his fees for those in need; he was a past |
|
|
president of the Montgomery County Bar Association; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, He was active in numerous community |
|
|
organizations, notably as a member of the Ancient Free and |
|
|
Accepted Masons and the Lions Club, and he was the author of Dad, |
|
|
What was it like in Conroe, a book detailing the history of Conroe |
|
|
and Montgomery County; a devout Christian who practiced his faith |
|
|
in his daily life, he was a longtime member of First Baptist |
|
|
Church and served on the State Baptist Executive Board; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and |
|
|
grandfather, and his wisdom, his generous spirit, and his |
|
|
enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will not be |
|
|
forgotten by those who were privileged to share in his life; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd |
|
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
|
family of Whitson Etheridge; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
|
Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
|
memory of Whitson Etheridge. |
