SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 391
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Eric Edmundo Farias
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of McAllen in paying tribute to the life of Sergeant
  Eric Edmundo Farias, who died on February 17, 2008, at the age of
  24; and
         WHEREAS, Born in McAllen to Edmundo Farias, Jr., and Diana
  Garza Farias, Eric was a 2002 graduate of Memorial High School,
  where he exhibited admirable athletic skills and played both
  tennis and baseball; he was also a member of the school's Mustang
  Band; and
         WHEREAS, Sergeant Eric Farias served his country with
  great honor as a member of the United States Marine Corps from
  2002 to 2006; he exemplified steadfast resolve and patriotism and
  survived three tours of duty in Iraq; his promising young life
  tragically ended in 2008 after he sustained injuries in a
  motorcycle accident; and
         WHEREAS, Sergeant Eric Farias will be remembered for his
  service to his country and for his meaningful contributions to
  the McAllen community, where he was a member of Our Lady of
  Sorrows Catholic Church; to memorialize one of its own, the
  United States Marine Corps performed military honors at his
  funeral; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the family of
  Eric Edmundo Farias; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
  from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Eric Farias.
