SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 402
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Raymond Phillip Peloubet, Jr.
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and pays
  tribute to the life of Raymond Phillip Peloubet, Jr., who died
  February 8, 2013, at the age of 87; and
         WHEREAS, Born on November 18, 1925, Ray Peloubet led an
  illustrious life; he was an accomplished Navy pilot, a celebrated
  inventor, an avid sportsman, and a devoted family man; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Peloubet joined the United States Navy in 1945
  and served as a pilot; he remained active in the Navy Reserve
  until he retired, as a lieutenant junior grade, in 1967; he was
  also a flight instructor at Louisiana State University, where he
  obtained a bachelor's degree in engineering in 1949; and
         WHEREAS, This dynamic thinker parlayed his early flight
  experience into a remarkable business career; he joined General
  Dynamics in 1954 and became world renowned for his advances in
  structural dynamics; his groundbreaking work on B-58s, F-111s,
  and F-16s earned him an induction into the Lockheed Martin
  Tactical Aircraft Systems Hall of Fame; and
         WHEREAS, An enthusiastic outdoorsman, Mr. Peloubet spent
  much of his free time freshwater fishing, and he was a champion wing
  shooter; earlier in his life, he had been a weight lifter and
  football player for Louisiana State University, and he remained a
  lifelong supporter of that school's athletics; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Peloubet was also a dedicated father and
  husband; he met the love of his life, Florence, on a blind date in
  1950, and they spent the next 62 years together; he leaves his
  family with many fond memories and an inspiring legacy of innovation
  and devotion; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Raymond Phillip Peloubet, Jr.; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Ray Peloubet.
