SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 416
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  join Texans across the state in celebrating Senate District 19
  Day; and
         WHEREAS, Senate District 19 covers more than 35,000 square
  miles and contains all or part of 17 counties, including
  Brewster, Atascosa, Dimmit, and Uvalde Counties; representatives
  from these four counties are visiting the Capitol today to
  address the needs of those counties' citizens; and
         WHEREAS, Brewster County is the largest county in Texas,
  covering 6,193 square miles; Atascosa and Dimmit Counties lie
  above the Eagle Ford Shale, which is helping to fuel the new oil
  boom in Texas; Uvalde County has throughout its history been a
  center for farming and ranching and has been home to Vice
  President John Nance Garner and Governor Dolph Briscoe; and
         WHEREAS, With two international ports of entry, 10 state
  parks, 51 school districts, 9,000 miles of highways and county
  roads, and more than 29,000 producing oil and gas wells, Senate
  District 19 has played a vital role in the growth and progress of
  our state, and it is truly fitting that its citizens be
  recognized for their many outstanding contributions to the
  state's prosperity; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, hereby commend the citizens of Senate District 19
  and welcome the representatives of Brewster, Atascosa, Dimmit,
  and Uvalde Counties to the Capitol for District 19 Day; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
  honor of this special occasion.
