SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 419
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Karen E. Gray
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Balch Springs in mourning the loss of longtime city
  council member Karen E. Gray, who died February 4, 2013; and
         WHEREAS, Karen Gray was an exceptional public servant
  whose dedication, professionalism, and determination to do the
  right thing had a profound impact on her community; and
         WHEREAS, Karen Gray moved to Balch Springs as a young woman
  and soon became active in the life of the city she adopted as her
  hometown; she served as a volunteer for numerous organizations in
  addition to her work in public service; and
         WHEREAS, Karen served for three terms on the city council,
  and during her tenure, she focused her efforts on ensuring that
  the city remained fiscally sound; she also served on the Dallas
  County Water Control and Improvement District 6 Board of
  Directors, the Balch Springs Planning and Zoning Commission, the
  Civil Service Commission, and the Animal Advisory Board; and
         WHEREAS, A woman of integrity, kindness, and courage, she
  earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues and area
  citizens, and her generous spirit and enthusiasm for living each
  day to the fullest will not be forgotten by those who were
  privileged to share in her life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family and friends of Karen E. Gray; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Karen Gray.
