SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 431
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Edward Ancira Calderon
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of San Antonio in mourning the loss of Edward Ancira
  Calderon, who died March 1, 2013, at the age of 87; and
         WHEREAS, Edward Calderon was an exemplary citizen whose
  musical talent and generous spirit had a profound effect on his
  community and on the lives of all those who knew him; and
         WHEREAS, Born February 2, 1926, in San Antonio, Mr.
  Calderon was married for 55 years to his beloved wife, the late
  Gladys Marroquin Calderon; the couple raised five children and
  were blessed with 22 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Calderon began his business career as the
  owner of Ed Calderon Tienda de Abarrotes, an independent grocery
  store that he operated for 20 years on San Antonio's West Side; he
  later served as an agent with the Prudential Insurance Company; and
         WHEREAS, His true passion was bringing happiness to people
  through music; he was an extraordinary trombone player and
  performed with the Larry Herman Orchestra and the Lamplighters
  Big Band Dance Orchestra for appreciative audiences across the
  city; and
         WHEREAS, He was devoted to helping children and was active
  in the Court Appointed Special Advocates program; he also served
  as a volunteer mentor at Woodlawn Elementary School; and
         WHEREAS, A man of compassion, grace, and generosity, he
  gave unselfishly to others, and his warmth, wisdom, and
  optimistic outlook will not be forgotten by those whose lives he
  touched; and
         WHEREAS, He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather,
  and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by
  his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
  83rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
  bereaved family of Edward Ancira Calderon; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
  Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do
  so in memory of Edward Ancira Calderon.
