SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 437
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure in
  recognizing Boys Scouts of America Troop 8 as it celebrates its
  centennial on March 13, 2013, at the State Capitol; and
 
         WHEREAS, This illustrious troop is based in Oak Cliff, and
  it is the oldest troop in continuous service within the Circle
  Ten Council; and
 
         WHEREAS, Scoutmaster Clarence W. "Tom" Bohannon has played
  a seminal role in the troop's longevity; he has served as the
  boys' guide, mentor, and leader for 53 years and will celebrate
  his 54th year as scoutmaster in June; during his tenure, Tom
  Bohannon has nurtured more than 2,000 youngsters, and his Troop 8
  alumni include renowned doctors, attorneys, bankers, and law
  enforcement chiefs; and
 
         WHEREAS, This illustrious troop has been an exemplary
  group of scouts and has helped cultivate future community
  leaders; the members of Troop 8 past and present represent some
  of the best and brightest that Scouting has to offer; now,
  therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, hereby commend Boy Scouts of America Troop 8 on its
  100th anniversary and extend sincere best wishes for continued
  success; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  Troop 8 as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
