SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 448
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize House of Renewed Hope founder Christopher Scott, who
was honored by the Dallas Morning News as one of its 2012 Texans
of the Year, along with fellow exoneree Michael Morton; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Scott spent 12 years in a state prison after
  being wrongfully convicted of murder; he won his freedom in 2009;
since then, he has dedicated much of his time to helping wrongly
convicted individuals adjust to life after prison; and
WHEREAS, As part of his mission, Mr. Scott founded the
House of Renewed Hope, which helps current prisoners advance
  their claims of innocence; and
WHEREAS, This dedicated champion of justice never gave up
hope for his acquittal; once he was released from prison, he
resolved to speak out and push for reform that might prevent
others from undergoing a similar ordeal; and
WHEREAS, While Mr. Scott will never be able to erase the
pain of being imprisoned for a crime he did not commit, nor will
he be able to retrieve the 12 years he lost, he has chosen to
parlay the experience into positive action; this tireless
advocate is indeed deserving of recognition for his indomitable
spirit and his constructive outlook; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
83rd Legislature, hereby commend Christopher Scott for his
fortitude in the face of extreme adversity and his determination to
take positive action in the wake of his exoneration and extend to him
sincere best wishes in all his future endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
Christopher Scott as an expression of esteem from the
  Texas Senate.
