SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 470
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize leaders of Boy Scout Troop 740 of Houston for their |
|
|
dedication and commitment to Scouting; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, These outstanding men and women take pride in |
|
|
their troop's history and its accomplishments; Troop 740 of the |
|
|
Golden Arrow District in the Sam Houston Area Council of the Boy |
|
|
Scouts of America was chartered in 1958 and has produced 73 Eagle |
|
|
Scouts; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Helping to cultivate those classic Scouting |
|
|
qualities are seven individuals who are indeed deserving of |
|
|
recognition: David Coughlen, who has served as Scoutmaster for |
|
|
12 years; Dave Hamilton, who has served as assistant Scoutmaster |
|
|
for seven years; and Mary Hamilton, who has been a Scout volunteer |
|
|
for seven years and has also served as advancement chair; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In addition, Adam Dougherty has served as |
|
|
Scoutmaster for seven years; Heather Dougherty has served as a |
|
|
Scout volunteer for seven years and as advancement chair; Iris |
|
|
Bolton, who is the first female Scoutmaster of Troop 740, has |
|
|
served two years in that role; and Myron Cloyd has been an |
|
|
assistant Scoutmaster for two years and a Cub Scout den leader |
|
|
for five years; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Throughout its history, Scouting has proved to be |
|
|
an exceptionally beneficial and formative activity for boys; the |
|
|
program teaches them responsibility, honor, and loyalty; also |
|
|
through Scouting, they learn many skills and how to improvise in |
|
|
a wide array of dynamic situations and environments; |
|
|
Scoutmasters pass down the Scouting traditions with great care |
|
|
and dedication; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, |
|
|
83rd Legislature, hereby recognize the leaders of Boy Scout |
|
|
Troop 740 of Houston for their tireless work and outstanding |
|
|
leadership; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
the leaders of Boy Scout Troop 740 as an expression of high regard |
|
|
from the Texas Senate. |
