SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 487
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Linda Jo G. Soliz, who was recently elected Precinct 1
  commissioner for Jim Hogg County; and
 
         WHEREAS, Linda Jo is the first woman in Jim Hogg County
  history to be elected county commissioner; she will bring 22
  years of experience as county treasurer to bear in her work on the
  county commission; and
 
         WHEREAS, She is following the example of community service
  set by other members of her family; her father served as county
  treasurer for nearly 20 years, and her uncle previously served as
  Precinct 1 commissioner; and
 
         WHEREAS, Linda Jo has played a significant role in the
  growth and prosperity of Jim Hogg County, and it is truly fitting
  that she be recognized as she assumes this important new
  position; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, hereby commend Linda Jo G. Soliz on her exceptional
  service to her community and extend to her best wishes for
  continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
