Erica Andrews |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|
|
commemorates the life of noted performer Erica Andrews, who died |
|
|
March 11, 2013; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Erica Andrews was born in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico; |
|
|
she was a longtime Texas resident who was widely regarded as one |
|
|
of the nation's best female illusionists, and she was one of the |
|
|
most decorated contestants on the pageant circuit; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Noted for her originality and imagination, she |
|
|
created many unique characters that reflected her vision of the |
|
|
powerful image she felt a woman should project; she won numerous |
|
|
titles over the course of her career as a performer, including |
|
|
Miss Texas Continental 2001, Miss Continental 2004, Miss |
|
|
International Queen 2006, and Entertainer of the Year 2006; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, She was known for her positive attitude, her |
|
|
warmth, and her sense of humor, and she encouraged other |
|
|
performers and friends with her belief that once you conquer |
|
|
fear, you will be able to conquer anything; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, She served as a mentor to numerous entertainers |
|
|
and provided guidance and encouragement to many young adults who |
|
|
had been the target of bullying and harassment; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, An inspiration to many, Erica Andrews was noted |
|
|
for her courage, grace, and compassion; she gave unselfishly to |
|
|
others, and her generous spirit, her abundant creativity, and her |
|
|
enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will not be |
|
|
forgotten by those who were privileged to share in her life; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, |
|
|
83rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the |
|
|
bereaved family and friends of Erica Andrews; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the |
|
|
Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do |
|
|
so in memory of Erica Andrews. |
