SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 542
|
|
|
WHEREAS, On April 4, 5, and 6, 2013, members of the |
|
|
Association of the United States Army 4th Region are having their |
|
|
annual conference in Austin, Texas; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Since 1950, the Association of the United States |
|
|
Army has worked to support all aspects of national security while |
|
|
advancing the interests of the army and the men and women who |
|
|
serve; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Association of the United States Army is a |
|
|
private nonprofit educational organization that supports all |
|
|
components of the nation's army, active, National Guard, |
|
|
Reserve, civilians, retirees, government civilians, wounded |
|
|
warriors, veterans, and family members, and provides numerous |
|
|
professional development opportunities at a variety of events |
|
|
both local and national; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Association of the United States Army |
|
|
represents every American soldier by being the voice for all |
|
|
components of America's army, fostering public support of the |
|
|
army's role in national security, and providing professional |
|
|
education and information programs; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Association of the United States Army has 122 |
|
|
chapters worldwide, made up entirely of volunteers; they provide |
|
|
recreational and educational opportunities to soldiers and their |
|
|
families, support deployed soldiers and the families left |
|
|
behind, and have contributed over $2 million to awards, |
|
|
scholarships, and support of soldier and family programs; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Association of the United States Army speaks |
|
|
out for the men and women of the United States Army who proudly |
|
|
serve our country, and it promotes the values of excellence, |
|
|
innovation, professionalism, inclusiveness, integrity, and |
|
|
responsiveness; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd |
|
|
Legislature, hereby recognize the Association of the United |
|
|
States Army and its visiting delegation from Texas, Oklahoma, |
|
|
Arkansas, and Louisiana and commend its members on the work they |
|
|
do in support of the military; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
the group as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. |
