SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 547

Geraldine D'Unger McGloin |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
|
|
citizens of Corpus Christi in mourning the loss of Geraldine |
|
|
D'Unger McGloin, who died March 10, 2013, at the age of 74; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Geraldine D'Unger McGloin was born December 18, |
|
|
1938, to a family that traces its roots to the Republic of Texas; |
|
|
she was a graduate of Incarnate Word Academy and later served as |
|
|
the school's director of development after having worked for many |
|
|
years with the United Way in Houston; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, One of the animating forces in her life was her |
|
|
love of history, and she served as a member of the Nueces County |
|
|
Historical Society, which presented her with its Daniel Kilgore |
|
|
History Award; she also served on the Nueces County Historical |
|
|
Commission, and she played an important role in the renovation of |
|
|
the Centennial House through her efforts as a member of the board |
|
|
of the Corpus Christi Area Heritage Society; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A devout Catholic who practiced her faith in her |
|
|
daily life, she was a major contributor to a book on the history |
|
|
of the Diocese of Corpus Christi, and she was active with |
|
|
Catholic Daughters of America Court 246; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A woman of strength, compassion, and wisdom, she |
|
|
gave unselfishly to others, and her generous spirit and devotion |
|
|
to her family will continue to serve as an example to those who |
|
|
were privileged to share in her life; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd |
|
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
|
family of Geraldine D'Unger McGloin; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
|
Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
|
memory of Geraldine D'Unger McGloin. |
