SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 547
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Geraldine D'Unger McGloin
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Corpus Christi in mourning the loss of Geraldine
  D'Unger McGloin, who died March 10, 2013, at the age of 74; and
         WHEREAS, Geraldine D'Unger McGloin was born December 18,
  1938, to a family that traces its roots to the Republic of Texas;
  she was a graduate of Incarnate Word Academy and later served as
  the school's director of development after having worked for many
  years with the United Way in Houston; and
         WHEREAS, One of the animating forces in her life was her
  love of history, and she served as a member of the Nueces County
  Historical Society, which presented her with its Daniel Kilgore
  History Award; she also served on the Nueces County Historical
  Commission, and she played an important role in the renovation of
  the Centennial House through her efforts as a member of the board
  of the Corpus Christi Area Heritage Society; and
         WHEREAS, A devout Catholic who practiced her faith in her
  daily life, she was a major contributor to a book on the history
  of the Diocese of Corpus Christi, and she was active with
  Catholic Daughters of America Court 246; and
         WHEREAS, A woman of strength, compassion, and wisdom, she
  gave unselfishly to others, and her generous spirit and devotion
  to her family will continue to serve as an example to those who
  were privileged to share in her life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Geraldine D'Unger McGloin; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Geraldine D'Unger McGloin.
