SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 559

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to join Bobbie Roberts Ashley in the celebration of her 80th birthday; and

WHEREAS, This Greenwood resident is a loving mother, a lifelong health care professional, and a strong advocate of education; for her ongoing service to the community, she has been honored by the Greenwood Masonic Lodge; and

WHEREAS, She was born Bobbie Faye Roberts on May 26, 1933; she received her Licensed Vocational Nurse certificate from Rogers Hospital in her native Decatur and has given more than 60 years to the medical profession and the care of others; and

WHEREAS, Among her greatest passions is education; she is vice president of the Greenwood Extension Education Club and has also served as president; Bobbie was also active in launching the annual Greenwood Fall Festival; and

WHEREAS, In her spare time, Mrs. Ashley tends to a herd of 38 cows and a bull; she is also active in the Greenwood Red Hat Society and has taken cruises and traveled to New York City and New Orleans with the group; and

WHEREAS, The mother of three children, one of whom is deceased, this solicitous and vibrant octogenarian is an inspiring example for all who know her; she is cherished by her children, Debi Porter and JoAnne Humes, and by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby commemorate the 80th birthday of Bobbie Roberts Ashley and extend to her sincere best wishes in all her endeavors; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for Bobbie Ashley as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
