Carl R. Coers III |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
|
citizens of Fort Worth in mourning the loss of Dr. Carl R. "Dick" |
|
Coers III, who died March 9, 2013, at the age of 78; and |
|
WHEREAS, Dick Coers was born September 24, 1934, in Oxford, |
|
Mississippi; he earned his bachelor's and medical degrees from |
|
the University of Mississippi and completed his internship at The |
|
University of Texas Medical Branch and his general surgical |
|
residency at the University of Tennessee and John Gaston Hospital |
|
in Memphis, Tennessee; and |
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Coers chose plastic surgery as his field of |
|
specialization and completed his residency for the specialty at |
|
The University of Texas Medical Branch; he opened his medical |
|
practice in Fort Worth in 1967 and throughout his career provided |
|
the people of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex with |
|
individualized, quality health care; and |
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Coers was a staff member at numerous area |
|
hospitals and was active in many professional organizations, |
|
including the Texas Medical Association, the American Medical |
|
Association, and the American Society of Plastic and |
|
Reconstructive Surgery; he was a diplomate of the American Board |
|
of Plastic Surgery and a fellow of the American College of |
|
Surgeons, and he generously offered his services as a volunteer |
|
at the Cook Children's Medical Center and the Gladney Center for |
|
Adoption; and |
|
WHEREAS, A man of wisdom, warmth, and kindness, he gave |
|
unselfishly to others, and his generous spirit and enthusiasm for |
|
living each day to the fullest will not be forgotten; and |
|
WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, |
|
and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his |
|
family and many friends; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd |
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
family of Dr. Carl R. Coers III; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
memory of Dr. Carl R. Coers III. |
