SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 578

Alex Taylor Olmsted |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas pays tribute to the |
|
life of Alex Taylor Olmsted, who died recently at the age of 18; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Alex was a beloved scholar and athlete at |
|
Jefferson High School in San Antonio; a member of the senior |
|
class, he ran track for the school and was an offensive lineman on |
|
its football team; this exceptional young man will be missed for |
|
his intellect, his quick wit, and his easy smile; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Alex was a member of the National Honor Society |
|
and was a National Hispanic Merit finalist; after interning at a |
|
law firm last summer, he had decided to become an attorney and had |
|
applied for college at Harvard University; he was one of the top |
|
10 students in his graduating class; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Although this outstanding student was taken at |
|
such a young age, he made a lasting impression on all those who |
|
knew him; his athletic talent was remarkable and his desire to |
|
accomplish great things in life inspired his family and friends |
|
alike, leaving a poignant legacy that will long be cherished; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, |
|
83rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the |
|
bereaved family of Alex Taylor Olmsted; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the |
|
Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do |
|
so in memory of Alex Olmsted. |
