SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 602
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Robert Vasquez Abeita
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas pays tribute to
  the life of Robert "Pinaco" Vasquez Abeita, who died March 17,
  2013, at the age of 69; and
         WHEREAS, Robert Abeita was a dearly loved family man and a
  respected mentor to countless boys and girls in Austin; he was
  also an athlete, a coach, and an accomplished businessman; and
         WHEREAS, This community servant parlayed his love for
  sports into positive interactions with young people; born April
  14, 1943, in the Texas capital city, Robert Abeita was committed
  to helping young Austin residents throughout his adult life; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Abeita played fast-pitch softball with his
  beloved Austin Jokers and coached a variety of sports for young
  men; he also founded the Saint Elmo Community Sports Program to
  give young boys and girls the opportunity to play organized
  sports; and
         WHEREAS, Committed to helping his athletes succeed, he
  learned screen printing in order to make uniforms for his teams;
  he later used that skill to start his own business, AC
  Silkscreen; for his devotion to young people, he was honored by
  the City of Austin; and
         WHEREAS, A father, grandfather, and great-grandfather,
  Robert Abeita was beloved by his family and his community, and he
  leaves behind memories that will be cherished forever by his
  wife, Irene, and all who were privileged to share in his life;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Robert "Pinaco" Vasquez Abeita; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Robert Abeita.
