SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 633
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Melvin K. Price, Jr.
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of Melvin K. Price, Jr., who died November
  4, 2012, at the age of 78; and
         WHEREAS, Mel Price was born November 11, 1933, in Wichita
  Falls; he married Sherrel Burton in 1960, and the couple raised
  four daughters, Sherri, Terry, Kelly, and Monica, who were a
  source of much pride and joy and who blessed them with six
  grandchildren and a great-grandchild; and
         WHEREAS, A veteran of the United States Army, Mr. Price was
  the co-owner and general manager of KDXE-FM radio and served as a
  college professor; he was active with numerous community
  organizations and served on the boards of Crime Stoppers and the
  food bank; he also worked with the American Cancer Society, the
  Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce, and the Rotary Club, and he
  was involved in a mentoring program at Sulphur Springs Middle
  School; and
         WHEREAS, A man of strength, integrity, and courage, he gave
  unselfishly to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and generous
  spirit will not be forgotten by those who were privileged to
  share in his life; and
         WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather,
  and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his
  family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Melvin K. Price, Jr.; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Melvin Price, Jr.
