SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 654

Louis Pitcock, Jr. |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
|
residents of Graham in mourning the loss of Louis Pitcock, Jr., |
|
who died March 22, 2013, at the age of 88; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born on June 18, 1924, in Fort Worth, Louis |
|
Pitcock graduated from Graham High School; he served his country |
|
during World War II in the Intelligence Section of the United |
|
States Air Force Strategic Air Command of Southeast Asia and was |
|
stationed in the China-Burma-India theater; and |
|
WHEREAS, He earned a bachelor's degree in history and |
|
government from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, |
|
and on June 29, 1949, he married his high school sweetheart, Mary |
|
Ellen McFarlane; and |
|
WHEREAS, Louis soon joined the family business, Pitcock, |
|
Incorporated, and helped oversee its diverse interests; he also |
|
was an active leader in the First United Methodist Church of |
|
Graham and in the Rotary Club of Graham; and |
|
WHEREAS, This exemplary gentleman placed great importance |
|
on civic duty and education; he served on the board of the Graham |
|
Chamber of Commerce, was chairman of the Graham Public Library, |
|
and helped establish the Board of Higher Education Commission of |
|
the City of Graham; in addition, he served on the Young County |
|
Democratic Executive Committee for 30 years; and |
|
WHEREAS, A highly respected community leader and a devoted |
|
family man, Louis Pitcock dedicated his energy and time to helping |
|
others; his generous spirit inspired all those who knew him, and he |
|
leaves behind memories that will long be cherished by his beloved |
|
wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd |
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
family of Louis Pitcock, Jr.; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
memory of Louis Pitcock. |
