SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 655
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Walter R. Dassdorf on the occasion of his 100th
  birthday; and
 
         WHEREAS, This distinguished gentleman is well known for
  his wisdom and generosity of spirit, and he is a revered resident
  of the Terrace Retirement Community in Webster; and
 
         WHEREAS, Walter Dassdorf was born July 12, 1913, in a log
  cabin in Jones Mills, Pennsylvania; he grew up in Pittsburgh,
  where he attended the innovative Schenley High School, and he
  went on to study at Carnegie Mellon University; and
 
         WHEREAS, Mr. Dassdorf enjoyed a long and productive career
  with the Crucible Steel Company and retired in 1978; throughout
  his life, he has been much in demand by family and friends for his
  exceptional skills as an inventor, repairman, and locksmith, and
  he is noted for his creative woodworking projects; and
 
         WHEREAS, In celebration of his birthday, friends and
  family are gathering on July 12, 2013, to congratulate him and
  share in this milestone in his life; a beloved and respected
  member of his community, he is known for his wide-ranging
  interests and ongoing educational efforts, his loyalty in
  friendship, and his enthusiasm for living each day to the
  fullest; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
  83rd Legislature, hereby commend Walter R. Dassdorf on his many
  achievements and extend to him best wishes for an enjoyable and
  festive 100th birthday celebration; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
