SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 665
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Joseph Stephen Rosenberger of Huntsville has |
|
|
earned a Congressional Award Gold Medal, and his outstanding |
|
|
achievement is being recognized on June 19, 2013, at a ceremony |
|
|
in Washington, D.C.; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Bestowed by the United States Congress, this |
|
|
prestigious accolade honors young Americans who have completed |
|
|
400 hours of voluntary public service, 200 hours of personal |
|
|
development, 200 hours of physical fitness, and a four-night, |
|
|
five-day expedition/exploration; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, An Eagle Scout, Mr. Rosenberger completed the |
|
|
rigorous requirements for the Congressional Award in the summer |
|
|
of 2011 while riding his bicycle across the United States from |
|
|
Yorktown, Virginia, to San Francisco, California; midway through |
|
|
his journey, he connected with a group biking to raise funds and |
|
|
awareness about multiple sclerosis, and he joined their cause; |
|
|
moreover, this summer he will participate in a 2,636-mile bike |
|
|
trek from Maine to Florida, which he helped organize and for |
|
|
which his team plans to raise $30,000 to benefit the National |
|
|
Multiple Sclerosis Society; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, By working to earn a Congressional Award Gold |
|
|
Medal, Stephen Rosenberger has demonstrated remarkable |
|
|
initiative and determination, as well as a steadfast commitment |
|
|
to serving his community, and he is truly a worthy role model for |
|
|
his fellow Texans; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, |
|
|
83rd Legislature, hereby congratulate Joseph Stephen Rosenberger |
|
|
on earning a 2013 Congressional Award Gold Medal and extend to him |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Rosenberger as an expression of high regard by |
|
|
the Texas Senate. |
