Sylvia Renée Adame |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
|
citizens of Galveston in mourning the loss of Sylvia Renée Adame, |
|
who died April 8, 2013, at the age of 64; and |
|
WHEREAS, Sylvia Renée Adame was born August 20, 1948, in |
|
Texas City; after graduating from Texas City High School in 1966, |
|
she began a career with the National Aeronautics and Space |
|
Administration; during this time, she met Alberto Adame, a |
|
lieutenant in the United States Army, and they were married in |
|
August of 1969; and |
|
WHEREAS, Renée Adame embraced the role of an officer's wife |
|
and provided her husband with unwavering support as he rose |
|
through the ranks to become a lieutenant colonel; as they moved |
|
from post to post, the couple raised four children, Allyson, Jeb, |
|
Monica, and Danielle, who were a source of much pride and joy and |
|
who blessed them with four grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, The family returned to the Texas Gulf Coast in |
|
1984, and Mrs. Adame began a career with the Galveston Park |
|
Board, where she played an important role in such projects as the |
|
Beach Renourishment Project, the restoration and christening of |
|
the USS Cavalla as a historic museum, and the annual Galveston |
|
Mardi Gras celebration; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Adame later joined Mitchell Historic Properties |
|
as director of marketing and special projects; among the many |
|
projects she spearheaded were the development of the Galveston |
|
FeatherFest, the Hotel Galvez Centennial Celebration, and the |
|
Annual Tremont House Mardi Gras Ball; and |
|
WHEREAS, She was particularly proud of her work with the |
|
company's community-based social programs that worked to improve |
|
the lives of the community's children; noteworthy among them are |
|
the Safe Haven Program, the Mitchell Substance Abuse Prevention |
|
Program, and the Galveston Sustainable Communities Alliance; and |
|
WHEREAS, Blessed with a rare combination of humility and |
|
confidence, Renée Adame enriched the lives of all those who had |
|
the privilege of sharing in her life, and her wisdom, her |
|
generous spirit, and her enthusiasm for living each day to the |
|
fullest will not be forgotten; and |
|
WHEREAS, She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, |
|
and she leaves behind memories that will be cherished forever by |
|
her family and countless friends; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd |
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
family of Sylvia Renée Adame; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
memory of Renée Adame. |
