SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 708
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Benjamin Sontoya Aleman
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas pays tribute to
  the life of Benjamin Sontoya Aleman, who died March 27, 2013, at
  the age of 73; and
         WHEREAS, Ben Aleman was born on March 18, 1940, in
  Creedmoor, Texas; early on, he displayed an agreeable nature, and
  throughout his life, his wit and easy disposition made him a
  favorite among friends and family; and
         WHEREAS, From 1960 to 1966, Ben served in the Texas
  National Guard and spent a portion of that time in Fort Polk,
  Louisiana; he later moved to Houston, where he dedicated much of
  his spare time to coaching the Dixie Little League; and
         WHEREAS, Baseball was a lifelong passion for Ben, and he
  was deeply respected as a baseball coach; he offered steadfast
  support and guidance to his players, and his teams frequently
  finished with winning seasons; and
         WHEREAS, Eventually, the Aleman family moved to Austin,
  where Ben served as an employee of Capital Metro for 21 years; it
  was a job he loved, and he also relished competing in the employee
  rodeos, often claiming national and local awards in the events;
  and
         WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity,
  this loving father and devoted husband gave unselfishly of his
  time to others, and the memory of his warmth and wisdom will long
  be cherished by his wife of 51 years, Nancy Aleman, by his
  children, and by his extended family; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Benjamin Sontoya Aleman; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Ben Aleman.
