Benjamin Sontoya Aleman |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas pays tribute to |
|
|
the life of Benjamin Sontoya Aleman, who died March 27, 2013, at |
|
|
the age of 73; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ben Aleman was born on March 18, 1940, in |
|
|
Creedmoor, Texas; early on, he displayed an agreeable nature, and |
|
|
throughout his life, his wit and easy disposition made him a |
|
|
favorite among friends and family; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, From 1960 to 1966, Ben served in the Texas |
|
|
National Guard and spent a portion of that time in Fort Polk, |
|
|
Louisiana; he later moved to Houston, where he dedicated much of |
|
|
his spare time to coaching the Dixie Little League; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Baseball was a lifelong passion for Ben, and he |
|
|
was deeply respected as a baseball coach; he offered steadfast |
|
|
support and guidance to his players, and his teams frequently |
|
|
finished with winning seasons; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Eventually, the Aleman family moved to Austin, |
|
|
where Ben served as an employee of Capital Metro for 21 years; it |
|
|
was a job he loved, and he also relished competing in the employee |
|
|
rodeos, often claiming national and local awards in the events; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, |
|
|
this loving father and devoted husband gave unselfishly of his |
|
|
time to others, and the memory of his warmth and wisdom will long |
|
|
be cherished by his wife of 51 years, Nancy Aleman, by his |
|
|
children, and by his extended family; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd |
|
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
|
family of Benjamin Sontoya Aleman; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
|
Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
|
memory of Ben Aleman. |
