SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 731
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize the Community Enrichment Center of Tarrant County on |
|
|
the occasion of its 25th anniversary; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Community Enrichment Center was created in |
|
|
1988 as an outreach ministry of The Hills Church of Christ; it was |
|
|
established to provide groceries to low-income individuals and |
|
|
families in Tarrant County; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Today, the center maintains one of the largest food |
|
|
pantries in Tarrant County, and in the last year alone, it |
|
|
distributed more than 600,000 pounds of food to 33,000 people; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Over the course of its history, the Community |
|
|
Enrichment Center has expanded its programs to include such |
|
|
initiatives as the Adopt-A-Family program, which provides |
|
|
transitional housing and social services to homeless people; in |
|
|
2006, the center merged with Open Arms Home, Incorporated, to |
|
|
offer long-term housing and services to the victims of domestic |
|
|
violence and their children; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A well-known community resource, the center |
|
|
strives to help families in crisis by providing the support, |
|
|
programs, tools, and encouragement that they need to improve |
|
|
their lives and become self-sufficient; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Community Enrichment Center has had a |
|
|
profound impact on the lives of countless people, and it is truly |
|
|
deserving of recognition as it celebrates its 25th year of |
|
|
outstanding service to the people of Tarrant County; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, |
|
|
83rd Legislature, hereby commend the staff and volunteers of the |
|
|
Community Enrichment Center of Tarrant County on their |
|
|
commitment to serving the most vulnerable citizens and extend to |
|
|
all associated with the center best wishes for a memorable 25th |
|
|
anniversary celebration; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
the center as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
