SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 747
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Ruby Lee Martin Beebe on the grand occasion of her |
|
|
100th birthday; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This exemplary lady is well known for her charm |
|
|
and generosity of spirit, and she is a revered resident of our |
|
|
state; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ruby Beebe was born April 29, 1913, in Young County, |
|
|
to Maggie and George Martin; she grew up with her six siblings and |
|
|
had a rural life of homemaking, farming, raising livestock, and |
|
|
gardening; she raised prizewinning chickens as a young girl and |
|
|
was a standout basketball player in high school; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, She married the late Paul R. Beebe in 1931; the |
|
|
couple raised four children, Martin, Alice, Paul, and Claude, |
|
|
who have been a source of much pride and joy; she has been blessed |
|
|
with 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 29 |
|
|
great-great-grandchildren; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, For many years, the family lived in company housing |
|
|
in New Mexico as Mr. Beebe pursued his long and fruitful career with |
|
|
El Paso Natural Gas; after his retirement, they bought their first |
|
|
house in 1973, in Kermit, Texas, where they were active in the life |
|
|
of their church and enjoyed the company of their many friends; Ruby |
|
|
was famous for her cooking, and her German chocolate cake and |
|
|
chocolate chip cookies have been the centerpiece of many |
|
|
unforgettable family meals; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A beloved and respected member of her community, |
|
|
Ruby Beebe is noted for her courage, her compassion for others, |
|
|
and her enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd |
|
|
Legislature, hereby extend best wishes to Ruby Lee Martin Beebe |
|
|
for a memorable 100th birthday celebration; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
her as a memento of this milestone in her life. |
