SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 749
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Alex Hernandez III
 
         WHEREAS, The friends and family of United States Army
  Specialist Alex Hernandez III suffered an immeasurable loss with
  the death of this valiant soldier, who passed away in Kandahar,
  Afghanistan, on May 12, 2012, at the age of 21; and
         WHEREAS, Assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 25th Aviation
  Regiment, 25th Combat Aviation Brigade, 25th Infantry Division,
  Specialist Hernandez was based at Wheeler Army Airfield in Hawaii
  and served as a door gunner; and
         WHEREAS, Specialist Hernandez joined the army in July 2009
  and completed basic training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma; he initially
  served as a test equipment operator; among the awards conferred
  on him were the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan
  Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Medal, and the
  Aviator Badge; and
         WHEREAS, A graduate of Lanier High School in Austin,
  Specialist Hernandez began his education in Bastrop; he was
  joined in matrimony to a fellow soldier, Tyasia Pompy Hernandez;
  big-hearted and fun-loving, he adored his younger siblings and
  was a devoted son; it delighted him to make others smile, and his
  jokes, big grin, and infectious laugh brought joy to innumerable
  people; and
         WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have young
  men and women whose love of country leads them to military duty,
  and time can never diminish the profound debt that Americans owe
  to Alex Hernandez for the service he undertook; although he is
  deeply missed, memories of precious moments spent in his company
  remain to comfort those who were privileged to share in the
  richness of his life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of United States
  Army Specialist Alex Hernandez III and extend sincere
  condolences to the members of his family:  to his wife, Tyasia
  Pompy Hernandez; to his mother, Traci Ortiz; to his father, Alex
  Hernandez, Jr.; and to his many other relatives and friends; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
  this day, it do so in memory of United States Army Specialist Alex
  Hernandez III.
