SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 793

Adrienne Keen McFarland |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|
commemorates the life of Adrienne Keen McFarland, who died March |
|
9, 2013, at the age of 61; and |
|
WHEREAS, Adrienne McFarland was a treasured citizen whose |
|
many contributions to her family, friends, community, and state |
|
served as an inspiration to all those who knew her; and |
|
WHEREAS, Adrienne graduated from Coronado High School in |
|
El Paso at the age of 16; she was married to her husband, Bill |
|
McFarland, for nearly 44 years, and the couple raised two |
|
children, Joel and Joanna, and was blessed with four |
|
grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, Her professional and storied career included |
|
stints at the Office of the Dean of Students at The University of |
|
Texas at Austin, the Westlake Picayune, and the Frank Erwin |
|
Special Events Center; she was best known for the time she spent |
|
as executive assistant to State Senator Rodney Ellis, in whose |
|
office she was noted for her ability to convince others of the |
|
rightness of the causes she advocated; and |
|
WHEREAS, She took great pleasure in fine food and wine and |
|
was an avid supporter of progressive issues, particularly |
|
women's rights; her infectious laugh and engaging sense of humor |
|
made her the life of the workplace and of every gathering in which |
|
she participated; and |
|
WHEREAS, A woman of courage, strength, and compassion, she |
|
gave unselfishly to all those she knew, and her generous spirit, |
|
her warmth, and her enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest |
|
will not be forgotten; and |
|
WHEREAS, She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and |
|
grandmother, and she leaves behind memories that will be |
|
cherished forever by her family and countless friends; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd |
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
family of Adrienne Keen McFarland; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
memory of Adrienne McFarland. |
