SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 976
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Ed Olson on the occasion of his 95th birthday; and
 
         WHEREAS, This distinguished World War II veteran is well
  known for his wisdom and generosity of spirit, and he is a
  respected and admired citizen of Georgetown; and
 
         WHEREAS, Ed Olson was born May 16, 1918, to Swedish
  immigrants Anton and Anna Olson; he had moved from his family's
  farm between Hutto and Taylor to study business in San Antonio
  when he met Ruth Cleveland; they married in June of 1941 and
  enjoyed nearly 70 years of marriage together; and
 
         WHEREAS, At the onset of World War II, Mr. Olson enlisted
  in the United States Army Air Corps; after training to fly B-17
  bombers, he was assigned to the 545th Bombardment Squadron, 384th
  Bombardment Group, 8th Air Force, and deployed to Europe, where
  he flew numerous missions over France and Germany; and
 
         WHEREAS, A beloved and esteemed member of his community,
  he is noted for his courage, his compassion for others, and his
  enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest; now, therefore,
  be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, hereby commend Ed Olson on his many achievements and
  extend to him best wishes for a memorable 95th birthday
  celebration; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
