SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 990

In Memory

of

O. G. Richardson

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of Burleson in mourning the loss of O. G. "Pete" Richardson, who died May 2, 2013, at the age of 88; and

WHEREAS, Pete Richardson was born August 12, 1924, in Burleson; he married Paula Ferguson in 1942, and the couple was blessed with two children; he served his country in the army during World War II; and

WHEREAS, Pete was dedicated to his work in automobile-related businesses for many years and was noted for his talent as a handyman; Paula preceded him in death; in 1976, he married Doris Gurley, and they enjoyed many happy years together; and

WHEREAS, An exemplary gentleman, Pete was devoted to his wife and children and was a generous, kindhearted person who was respected in the community for his accomplishments; he was a devout Christian and a longtime active member of Burleson's First United Methodist Church; and

WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, he gave unselfishly of his time to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and valued counsel will not be forgotten; and

WHEREAS, Pete Richardson was beloved by many, and he will long be remembered with affection and appreciation by all who were privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of O. G. "Pete" Richardson; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Pete Richardson.
