SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 995

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Colleyville Police Department on the occasion of its 40th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, This highly regarded police force was founded in 1973, with a chief of police, two officers, no jail, and one leased patrol car; and

WHEREAS, Today, the Colleyville force has 37 officers and four civilian staff members; the department fosters integrity, service, and innovation, and its employees are committed to maintaining a high quality of life through community-oriented policing; and

WHEREAS, With a focus on crime prevention and close community involvement, Colleyville's police force constitutes a reassuring presence throughout the city; its proactive approach to public safety includes the promotion of shared ownership, shared decision making, and shared accountability; and

WHEREAS, Over the past four decades, this highly trained team of professionals has worked tirelessly to see that the residents of Colleyville are protected from harm, and it has laid the groundwork for further improvements in public safety in the years to come; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby commend the Colleyville Police Department on its many years of service to the community and extend best wishes for further success as the department celebrates its 40th anniversary; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the department as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
