SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 997
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize the Meacham International Airport of Fort Worth, which |
|
|
has been named the 2013 Reliever Airport of the Year by the Texas |
|
|
Department of Transportation; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Meacham International Airport has emerged |
|
|
from the aftermath of a devastating storm in 2012 that resulted |
|
|
in millions of dollars in damage to its infrastructure, including |
|
|
the complete destruction of one of its hangars; in spite of this |
|
|
setback, the airport increased its operations that year by more |
|
|
than 14 percent; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, It has taken important steps to improve safety, |
|
|
including the installation of security cameras, the elimination |
|
|
of a runway hot spot, and reconstructing a dangerous apron area; |
|
|
it has also worked to improve its fiscal outlook through its |
|
|
efforts to manage its gas well funds and the implementation of an |
|
|
electronic work order database; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The airport's staff has also taken part in |
|
|
numerous community activities; they raised more than $100,000 |
|
|
for the city's food drive and have given multiple presentations |
|
|
at local schools; the airport is hosting the 2013 Aircraft Owners |
|
|
and Pilots Association's 2013 Aviation Summit; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Meacham International Airport is truly |
|
|
deserving of recognition for the important role it has played in |
|
|
the prosperity of the Fort Worth area; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend the management and staff of the |
|
|
Meacham International Airport on their outstanding work and |
|
|
extend congratulations to them on being named the 2013 Reliever |
|
|
Airport of the Year; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
the airport as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
