SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 999

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Mary Lynn Morris, who is retiring as principal of Live Oak Elementary School in Austin after a distinguished 38-year career in education; and

WHEREAS, Mary Lynn Morris is a graduate of The University of Texas at El Paso, and she earned a master's degree at National Louis University; her experience prior to becoming principal at Live Oak Elementary School includes teaching and administrative assignments in Germany and in Killeen and Georgetown; and

WHEREAS, Talented and resourceful, she has handled her many duties with warmth and professionalism while working to instill in her students a lifelong love of learning; she is known for holding students to high standards and for promoting parental involvement; and

WHEREAS, This exemplary administrator inspires and supports the teachers in her school to be their best by listening to their needs and empowering them as leaders; and

WHEREAS, An outstanding educator, she is respected and admired by students, faculty, and parents alike, and her presence at Live Oak Elementary School will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby commend Mary Lynn Morris on her exceptional work as a teacher and administrator and extend to her best wishes for continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
