SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1005
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Robin Ramsay, who is retiring from the Smithville |
|
|
Independent School District after a distinguished 30-year career |
|
|
as a coach; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Robin Ramsay is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin |
|
|
State University, where she was a standout basketball, softball, |
|
|
and track-and-field athlete who competed on the national level in |
|
|
all three sports; she became a coach with the Smithville |
|
|
Independent School District 18 years ago after more than a decade |
|
|
of service to other districts in the state; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, She has served as the girls' coordinator and head |
|
|
coach of the girls' varsity basketball team for 17 years; under |
|
|
her leadership, the basketball team has reached the playoffs 17 |
|
|
consecutive seasons and earned a 363-213 record; she was named |
|
|
All Cen-Tex Coach of the Year in 2000; she has also coached the |
|
|
boys' and girls' cross-country and tennis teams in addition to |
|
|
the girls' track and field, softball, and volleyball teams, |
|
|
leading them to multiple playoff appearances; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, She has had a profound impact on the lives of her |
|
|
young athletes, many of whom continue to seek her out for advice |
|
|
and guidance; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, An exceptionally talented coach, she is respected |
|
|
and admired by her colleagues and by the district's students, and |
|
|
her presence as a coach with the Smithville Independent School |
|
|
District will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend Robin Ramsay on her outstanding |
|
|
achievements as a coach with the Smithville Independent School |
|
|
District and extend to her best wishes for continued success in |
|
|
all her endeavors; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. |
