SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1017

WHEREAS, Members of the 29th Annual Class of Leadership Plainview are investing in a special trip to tour the State Capitol on May 23 and 24, 2013, in order to gain a greater understanding and a deeper appreciation of the inner workings of their state government; and

WHEREAS, Leadership Plainview was founded 29 years ago and continues to have a positive impact on the lives of Plainview's citizenry; and

WHEREAS, This outstanding program serves as an exceptional initiative which provides residents from all walks of life with opportunities to increase their knowledge of public issues and to visit with local and state leaders who are making decisions that affect their lives and communities; and

WHEREAS, Through its efforts to build a more informed and involved citizenry and to develop the leadership potential of its participants, Leadership Plainview is helping to create a brighter and more promising future for the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby honor Leadership Plainview for its promotion of civic leadership, community pride, and volunteerism, extend to its participants sincere best wishes for continued success in the years ahead, and recognize May 23, 2013, as Leadership Plainview Day at the State Capitol; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for Leadership Plainview as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
