SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1036
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Children's Medical Center on the occasion of its |
|
|
centennial anniversary; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Children's Medical Center can trace its roots to |
|
|
an open-air clinic that was created in 1913, when dehydration, |
|
|
malnutrition, and other maladies were responsible for serious |
|
|
illnesses and mortality among children; it has grown from the |
|
|
open-air clinic known as a "baby camp" to become one of the |
|
|
world's foremost pediatric care facilities; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The center serves all children, regardless of |
|
|
their families' ability to pay, and it does so without tax |
|
|
support; the center consists of two main campuses in Dallas and |
|
|
Plano, along with several specialty clinics and a network of |
|
|
MyChildren's Pediatric Practice primary care offices, which last |
|
|
year provided service to almost 100,000 children; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ranked among the top children's hospitals in the |
|
|
country by U.S. News and World Report, the center is the nation's |
|
|
fifth-largest pediatric health care provider and is the only such |
|
|
facility in the nation to earn seven disease-specific |
|
|
certifications from the Joint Commission, as well as Magnet |
|
|
Recognition for nursing excellence; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The center is a leader in research with its |
|
|
partner, The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, |
|
|
and each year, Children's Medical Center produces a report |
|
|
detailing the levels of health and wellness of children across |
|
|
Dallas County and beyond; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend Children's Medical Center on its |
|
|
outstanding medical services and facilities and extend to its |
|
|
staff and volunteers congratulations on the center's 100th |
|
|
anniversary; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
Children's Medical Center as an expression of esteem from the |
|
|
Texas Senate. |
