SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1038

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize David Webb, who is retiring as chief financial officer of the Deer Park Independent School District after more than 25 years of service in the field of education; and

WHEREAS, A graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, Mr. Webb began his career in school finance in 1987 as director of accounting in the Pasadena Independent School District; he also served as chief financial officer of the La Porte Independent School District for 10 years before joining the Deer Park schools in 2004 as chief financial officer; and

WHEREAS, Over the course of his career, he has been actively involved with the Texas Association of School Business Officials, serving on several committees and as a member of the board of directors, including a term as board president; he is also a member of the board of the Texas Association of School Boards Risk Management Fund; and

WHEREAS, He is the author of A Brief History of Texas School Finance and Leading Schools Financially; and

WHEREAS, An exemplary accountant and administrator, he is respected and admired by his colleagues, and his presence at the Deer Park Independent School District will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby commend David Webb on his exceptional service to the Deer Park Independent School District and extend to him best wishes for continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
