SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1042
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Brian Keith Lundy, Jr.
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of Petty Officer 2nd Class Brian Keith
  Lundy, Jr., who died September 9, 2011, at the age of 25; and
         WHEREAS, Brian Lundy was born on July 29, 1986, at
  Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin; at an early age, he exhibited
  a love of animals, an adventurous spirit, and a desire to help
  others; and
         WHEREAS, After he graduated from Bowie High School in 2004,
  he realized he wanted to serve his country, and he gave up a
  college scholarship to join the United States Navy; and
         WHEREAS, In 2006, Brian Lundy completed his training as a
  Hospital Corpsman and was stationed aboard the USS Ronald Reagan;
  seeking greater challenges, he applied for and successfully
  completed Fleet Marine Force training and was assigned to the 2nd
  Marine Division, Fleet Marine Force, Camp Lejeune; he was
  deployed to Afghanistan in July of 2011 in support of Operation
  Enduring Freedom; and
         WHEREAS, It was there that he found his true calling, and
  he was honored to be able to use his medical training to assist
  Americans and Afghans alike, in both the civilian and military
  populations; and
         WHEREAS, In so doing, this remarkable young man made the
  ultimate sacrifice; he was awarded a Purple Heart and was honored
  with a National Service Defense Medal and other decorations; and
         WHEREAS, Although Brian Lundy is no longer with us, his
  extraordinary commitment to duty and his courage will forever be
  remembered by his fellow service members and by his loving family
  and friends; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Petty Officer 2nd Class Brian Keith Lundy, Jr.; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Brian Lundy, Jr.
