SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1060
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Victor Apodaca, Jr.
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of El Paso in mourning the loss of Victor Apodaca, Jr.,
  who died April 28, 2013, at the age of 73; and
 
         WHEREAS, Victor Apodaca, Jr., was born January 25, 1940,
  and lived most of his life in El Paso; a well-known businessman
  and a quiet philanthropist, he made a real difference in the
  lives of countless people through his generous support and his
  heartfelt advocacy for those less fortunate; and
 
         WHEREAS, He began working in his father's bail bond
  business at the age of 14, and he attended Texas Western College
  until deciding to make his career in the business he had learned
  from his father; he was well known for his management of
  Apodaca's Bail Bonds, and he also cofounded several other
  businesses, including Viva Motors and Cielo Vista Bank; and
 
         WHEREAS, He founded and served as the first president of
  the Professional Bondsmen of Texas, and he worked to further the
  organization's legislative agenda in Austin; his business
  leadership was acknowledged when his company was listed in
  Hispanic Business magazine; and
 
         WHEREAS, Mr. Apodaca was noted for his strong work ethic
  and his high standards; a colorful, flamboyant figure who was
  proud of his Hispanic heritage, he strove to make sure others had
  the kinds of opportunities they needed to succeed, and he
  unfailingly helped out family members, friends, and strangers in
  need; and
 
         WHEREAS, An exemplary gentleman, Vic Apodaca was a
  generous, kindhearted person who was respected in the community
  for his accomplishments; and
 
         WHEREAS, A man of integrity and strength, he gave
  unselfishly to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and valued counsel
  will not be forgotten; and
 
         WHEREAS, Vic Apodaca was beloved by many, and he leaves
  behind memories that will be treasured forever by all who were
  privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Victor Apodaca, Jr.; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Victor Apodaca, Jr.
