SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1078
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
recognize Amanda Rios Arizpe; and |
|
WHEREAS, Amanda Arizpe was born May 22, 1933, in Cuatro |
|
Cienegas, Coahuila, Mexico; she was the daughter of a prominent |
|
baker and a talented artist and seamstress; and |
|
WHEREAS, She began her professional career at the age of 16 |
|
in her hometown as a bank teller before accepting the position of |
|
secretary to the mayor; and |
|
WHEREAS, She later moved with her family to Piedras Negras, |
|
where she worked for a law office and a notary and met Alberto |
|
Arizpe, a semiprofessional baseball player; they were married in |
|
1955 and together raised three daughters, Alma, Maria, and |
|
Araceli, and one son, Jesus Alberto; she has been blessed with |
|
six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, She is an avid dancer and a creative, talented |
|
writer, but her true passion is her family; she has instilled in |
|
her children the values of unconditional love, of |
|
responsibility, and of caring for others; a beloved and respected |
|
member of her community, she is noted for her compassion for |
|
others and her enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd |
|
Legislature, hereby commend Amanda Rios Arizpe on her many |
|
achievements and extend to her best wishes for continued success |
|
in all her endeavors; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
