SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1078
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Amanda Rios Arizpe; and
         WHEREAS, Amanda Arizpe was born May 22, 1933, in Cuatro
  Cienegas, Coahuila, Mexico; she was the daughter of a prominent
  baker and a talented artist and seamstress; and
         WHEREAS, She began her professional career at the age of 16
  in her hometown as a bank teller before accepting the position of
  secretary to the mayor; and
         WHEREAS, She later moved with her family to Piedras Negras,
  where she worked for a law office and a notary and met Alberto
  Arizpe, a semiprofessional baseball player; they were married in
  1955 and together raised three daughters, Alma, Maria, and
  Araceli, and one son, Jesus Alberto; she has been blessed with
  six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, She is an avid dancer and a creative, talented
  writer, but her true passion is her family; she has instilled in
  her children the values of unconditional love, of
  responsibility, and of caring for others; a beloved and respected
  member of her community, she is noted for her compassion for
  others and her enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, hereby commend Amanda Rios Arizpe on her many
  achievements and extend to her best wishes for continued success
  in all her endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
