SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1100
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Hidalgo County Sheriff Guadalupe Treviño for his |
|
|
outstanding record of public service; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Sheriff Treviño began his distinguished career in |
|
|
law enforcement in 1973 as an officer with the Edinburg Police |
|
|
Department; he went on to serve as a senior sergeant with the |
|
|
Austin Police Department before joining the Hidalgo County |
|
|
Criminal District Attorney's Office, where he was a chief |
|
|
criminal investigator and a task force commander; he began his |
|
|
tenure as sheriff of Hidalgo County in 2005; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, He holds bachelor's and master's degrees from The |
|
|
University of Texas--Pan American; he has also completed |
|
|
advanced professional training with the Federal Bureau of |
|
|
Investigation and the Drug Enforcement Administration; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Over the course of his career, Sheriff Treviño has |
|
|
served on numerous committees and task forces and has earned many |
|
|
awards and commendations; he has served in leadership positions |
|
|
on a number of border enforcement committees associated with the |
|
|
United States Department of Homeland Security; he has also been |
|
|
active in several community and civic organizations; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Sheriff Treviño has handled the unique challenges |
|
|
of law enforcement duty with courage, strength, and |
|
|
professionalism, and he is truly deserving of recognition for his |
|
|
outstanding service on behalf of the people of Hidalgo County; |
|
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend Sheriff Guadalupe Treviño on his |
|
|
many achievements in the field of law enforcement and extend to |
|
|
him best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. |
