IN RE:
HB158 by Taylor, Van (Relating to the designation on a person's driver's license or commercial driver's license that the person is licensed to carry a concealed handgun.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code to allow a possessor of a concealed handgun license to elect to include certain information relating to the individual's concealed handgun license on the individual's driver's license or commercial driver's license.  The bill would also amend the Government Code to authorize the use of a driver's license containing the concealed handgun license information required by the bill as an indicator that the individual is licensed to carry a concealed handgun.  The bill would amend the Government Code to authorize the Department of Public Safety to charge a fee from an individual making an election authorized by the bill in an amount necessary to cover the cost of implementing the requirements of the bill.  It is assumed the provisions of the bill can be implemented within existing resources. The bill would take effect immediately upon a vote of two-thirds of all members in each chamber; otherwise the bill would take effect on September 1, 2013.
