No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend Chapter 143 and Chapter 174 of the Local Government Code to require that a department of a municipality or a political subdivision that employs a fire fighter or a police officer must retain a complaint filed against the fire fighter or officer that alleges official oppression as long as the fire fighter or police officer remains employed by the political subdivision.
The bill would amend the Government Code to require that a department of this state or a political subdivision that employs or appoints a law enforcement officer, a fire fighter, a detention officer, a county jailer, or a peace officer must retain a complaint filed against the individual that alleges official oppression as long as the individual remains employed or appointed.
The Texas Department of Criminal Justice indicated no significant fiscal impact is anticipated.
