The bill would amend the Occupations Code relating to requiring notice of a hotel's firearms policy. The bill would allow a court to issue a warning to a hotel for a first violation of this subchapter, and would provide for a civil penalty of $200 for each subsequent violation. The bill would require collections from the civil penalty to be sent to the Comptroller for deposit to the General Revenue Fund.
Based on the information provided by the Office of the Attorney General, Department of Public Safety, and the Comptroller of Public Accounts, it is assumed that duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources. Although the number of violations resulting from the implementation of the bill cannot be determined, this analysis assumes that any revenue gains from penalties would not result in a significant impact to the General Revenue Fund.
