LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 1, 2013

TO:
Honorable Jimmie Don Aycock, Chair, House Committee on Public Education

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB344 by Márquez (Relating to an exit audit of a school district and an exit interview of a school district superintendent.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the Texas Education Agency to develop an exit interview questionnaire to be used by the board of trustees of a school district when a superintendent leaves the employment of the district by resignation, by nonrenewal of a term contract, or by termination.

The bill would require the Commissioner of Education to conduct an exit audit of the school district that employed a superintendent upon receipt of an exit interview.

This analysis assumes that any additional costs could be absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
