Honorable Geanie Morrison, Chair, House Committee on Elections
FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB370 by Dutton (Relating to registering to vote and voting while in custody at certain county jails and related procedures.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Election Code to require and provide provisions for county jails in certain counties to serve as places of voter registration and polling places for any election in their respective counties.
The Secretary of State indicates there would be a cost associated with implementing the provisions of the bill; however, it is anticipated that the additional costs could be absorbed within current resources.
This bill would take effect on September 1, 2013.
Local Government Impact
Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
