LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 14, 2013

TO:
Honorable Tryon D. Lewis, Chair, House Committee on Judiciary & Civil Jurisprudence

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB393 by Thompson, Senfronia (Relating to possession of or access to a child by a grandparent or certain other persons.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Family Code as it relates to possession of or access to a child by a grandparent or certain other persons.

The changes in law made by this bill would apply only to a suit affecting the parent-child relationship filed on or after the effective date of the bill. A suit filed before that date is governed by the law in effect on the date the suit was filed, and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2013.

The Office of the Attorney General, the Office of Court Administration, and the Department of Family and Protective Services do not anticipate any significant fiscal impact as a result of complying with the provisions of the bill.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
