LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 14, 2013

TO:
Honorable Byron Cook, Chair, House Committee On State Affairs

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB450 by Dukes (Relating to the designation of a state climatologist and the operation of a state climate office.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code, Chapter 470 to require the Governor to designate a state climatologist and that any state climatologist would need to meet or exceed standards set by the American Association of State Climatologists or an appropriate successor. The Office of the Governor and the Texas A&M University System indicate that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed within each agency’s existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
