LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 3, 2013

TO:
Honorable Tryon D. Lewis, Chair, House Committee on Judiciary & Civil Jurisprudence

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB454 by Dukes (Relating to authorization for a caregiver who is a relative to enroll a child in school.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the Texas Education Agency to develop a caregiver's affidavit form consistent with the requirements of the bill and to make the form accessible on the Agency's website.  The Agency would be directed to adopt rules to implement the provisions of the bill and ensure that schools and school districts accept the form.  The Agency assumes that development of the form, Internet posting, and  adoption of rules could be accomplished with existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
